Phaseolus vulgaris var. nanus

Historic, half-sized dry bean from America with beautiful, elongated kernels.

This half-height rice bean variety forms light tendrils (up to 1 m) and can be supported in growth by a climbing aid. The robust plants produce a good yield and the half white, half wine-red seeds have a pleasant taste. The pods can also be used green when young, but later form threads. The variety bears the name of the second largest Indian tribe in the United States.
